Contract Type: Long-Term Contract (12 months + extensions)
Pay Rate: $60 - $70/hour (depending on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking a Cloud Systems Administrator to join a collaborative, four-person Azure-focused team. This role is integral to supporting ongoing cloud operations and driving a large-scale migration from on-premise systems to the cloud. You'll manage AKS clusters, leverage Infrastructure-as-Code, and enhance the overall reliability, security, and performance of our cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Administration
- Manage and optimize Azure environments (majority of current cloud footprint).
- Assist with migrating workloads from on-premise systems into Azure.
- Maintain and enhance multiple Azure landing zones, including:
- Legacy lift-and-shift environments.
- New landing zones leveraging AKS Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitHub.
Infrastructure & Operations
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot virtual machines, networking, and application-level issues.
- Develop and manage AKS Kubernetes clusters and containerized workloads.
- Implement, optimize, and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and GitHub.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to improve automation and streamline operations.
Monitoring & Optimization
- Monitor performance and availability using tools such as New Relic.
- Troubleshoot cloud incidents and proactively optimize system performance.
- Provide application and infrastructure support, including root cause analysis.
Collaboration & Support
- Work as part of a small, tight-knit Azure team alongside cross-department stakeholders.
- Participate in a light after-hours on-call rotation (1 week per month, minimal volume).
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years in Cloud Systems Administration, Azure-focused.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong Azure administration skills (certification preferred - AZ-104).
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (AKS) management.
- Expertise in Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Proficiency with GitHub for version control and CI/CD.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities across networking, VMs, and application environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of AWS (AWS SysOps certification a plus).
- Experience with New Relic or other cloud monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with hybrid and multi-cloud strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize and improve cloud operations processes.
